Q. What rules do members of the Sunset Canyon Landowners Association have to abide by?
A. The same ones that EVERY resident has to even if they are not members. The only rules in our neighborhood are the Deed Restrictions specific for each section. Be sure to know what section you live in. In general they are very similar with a few slight variations for your section. Click HERE to view a map of the various sections
Q. Are livestock or poultry allowed?
A. Sections 1, 2, 3 & 4 allow livestock with limitations and only on certain lots. Livestock is defined as horses, cows, sheep and goats. Swine is not allowed anywhere. Poultry are only mentioned in section 5 which addresses livestock with this wording: "No livestock, including but not limited to, cattle , hogs,
horses , goats, sheep, poultry or other wild or domestic animals other than dogs and cats, shall be permitted on any lot."
Q. What can we do about unwanted solicitors?
A. Although we have No Solicitation signs at our entrances, we hope they serve as a deterrence but they are not legally enforceable. A No Solicitation sign at your front door is more effective and COULD give you leverage against unwanted solicitors. It is a form of legal notice that they are not welcome and they are entering your property without consent. If you don't have one, consider placing one at your front door.
Naturally, if you suspect a solicitor, and don't want to speak with them, don't open your door, and if you do speak with them and they don't take no for an answer simply go back inside without arguing.
If they remain on your property or become irate, call local law enforcement like the sheriff or constable (use the non-emergency line unless there is an immediate threat, in which case call 911).
