Hays County does not use an app to contact residents. However, you can register to receive emergency and weather push notifications HERE. This is the way Hays County officials will communicate with us in case of an emergency. You can customize the kinds of alerts, set “quiet periods”, etc. Notifications can be sent by text, phone, or email and are localized depending on the area affected. We can designate one or more areas.
You also can visit THIS site to see the text of alerts, burn ban status, preparedness information, and more.
Hays County Office of Emergency Management suggests making sure to have a NOAA-compatible emergency alert radio WITH FRESH BATTERIES. Note that not all emergency weather radios can receive alerts.
